About Us

Chosen Rising is a faith-rooted community and personal-growth platform founded by author, creator, and advocate Mykah Montgomery. It was built on a simple belief: the experiences that shape us do not have to determine where our stories end. Heartbreak, uncertainty, difficult relationships, seasons of questioning, and moments that break us open can also become places where wisdom, healing, clarity, and purpose begin.

At its heart, Chosen Rising is about becoming. Through books, reflection, community, conversation, resources, and shared experiences, it creates space for women to look honestly at where they have been, consider what those experiences have taught them, strengthen their sense of self, deepen their spiritual lives, and intentionally move toward what comes next.

The Study

The Study By Chosen Rising is the literary home of that larger experience. More than an online bookstore, it is a curated reading space built around the belief that what we take in matters.

The Study carries books focused on the areas women are actively navigating: healing, prayer, faith, becoming, relationships, purpose, self-discovery, emotional wellness, and personal growth. Our shelves may include memoir, inspirational nonfiction, devotionals, guided reflection, relationship books, journals, workbooks, and other titles chosen to encourage women to slow down, think deeply, and engage with what they are learning.

Faith Without the Box

Chosen Rising is faith-based, and spirituality is central to its foundation. We value prayer, reflection, divine purpose, and the belief that our lives are connected to something greater than ourselves.

At the same time, The Study is not built around religious gatekeeping or rigid dogma. Women of different faith traditions, backgrounds, and stages of spiritual exploration are welcome here. Our focus is on creating space to explore faith, wisdom, spirituality, purpose, and the inner life with honesty and intention.

Read deeply. Reflect honestly. Take root.

Meet Mykah

Mykah Montgomery is the founder of Chosen Rising, a platform created to support women as they reflect, heal, grow, and step more fully into who they are becoming. Her work brings together faith, personal development, storytelling, and honest conversation to create spaces where women can feel seen, challenged, encouraged, and connected.

A native of Oakland, California, Mykah comes from a celebrated musical family and began her creative career in music before expanding into writing, advocacy, leadership, and community work. Over the years, she has built a multidisciplinary career that spans the arts, literacy, professional development, and service, giving her a perspective shaped by both creativity and real-world leadership.

As the author of The Men in My Wake, Mykah brings that same honesty, depth, and lived experience to the page. Through Chosen Rising, she continues to build a community centered on growth, connection, faith, and the courage to keep rising.

About The Book

About
The Book

The Men in My Wake is not simply a book about relationships. It is a book about what remains after them—and what a woman can become when she finally examines what they came to teach her.

Through vulnerable storytelling, poetry, spiritual reflection, and personal insight, Mykah Montgomery revisits relationships that left their mark on her life. Rather than romanticizing heartbreak, she looks beyond what happened to examine what each experience revealed: the patterns she carried, the pieces of herself she abandoned, the truths she resisted, and the strength waiting on the other side.

Each “wake” becomes an invitation to do deeper soul work. Guided prompts, affirmations, and candid reflection questions encourage readers to examine their own histories instead of simply observing Mykah’s. The result is part memoir, part reflection guide, and part spiritual reckoning—created for women ready to stop replaying the past and begin understanding it.
